KV HEALTH AMBULANCE SERVICE

The mission of Klickitat Valley Health Ambulance Service is to provide the highest quality patient care possible - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our professional staff of State certified Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are capable of providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) care of major medical illnesses and traumas to anyone in our service area of over 1,000 square miles.

The service is equipped with one ALS and one Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance. On-board ALS equipment includes a 12-lead EKG monitor with an external pacemaker/defibrillator and automatic blood pressure cuff, portable ventilator, intravenous (IV) medications and fluid, advanced airway equipment and a wide assortment of dressings and splints. Additionally, KVH Ambulance has a fully equipped reserve ambulance, as well as on-line satellite communication with hospital emergency room medical providers for medical direction during transport.

KVH Ambulance employs 3 full time Paramedics, 3 full time EMTs, 1 part time EMT Intermediate and 6 on-call EMTs. In addition to the normal Paramedic certification, all of our Paramedics are trained in Critical Care Transport and are Certified Health Care Assistants. This allows them to assist the medical providers in the Hospital and transport critically ill patients needing more complex medications and medical equipment. Paramedics receive over 1000 hours for training including classroom, clinical rotations in hospitals and an internship with experienced Paramedics before becoming certified. EMTs receive a minimum of 150 hours of training in emergency medical conditions and treatment.

Community Outreach
KV Ambulance Service provides CPR, first aid and related courses to the public on an ongoing basis, as well as First Response and EMS training to fire district and police personnel. The Service also provides ambulance standby services for public events.
