Continuing A Legacy: KVH begins master facility planning to meet the dynamic changes in healthcare needs for our community.
The year was 1949 and Klickitat County Public Hospital District #1 had been working diligently for 2 years to gather funding to build a hospital. It was high time for the kind of hospital this area deserved. So the people banded together and after years of hard work and perseverance, Klickitat Valley Hospital was built. It was hailed as “a state-of-the-art facility designed to give the best hospital service at minimal cost to the district.”
KVH has served this community well. Known for its compassionate care and dedication to the people who live here, KVH has done much to improve many lives. But now it’s time to do more. And so we are making changes – healthy changes.
What do Healthy Changes mean for KVH? We are creating a comprehensive system of health care that allows patients better access to their providers and the healthcare services they need. We are focusing on prevention and wellness to partner with our community to become the healthiest county in the state and to help each individual reach their long term health goals. We are expanding primary care with more providers and expanded hours to make our services more readily available. Within the hospital, we are adding to an already large and diverse team of physicians and specialists. We are increasing outpatient services to offer as many services locally as possible.
Over the years, KVH has grown from a single hospital to a campus that includes a Family Medicine Clinic, Wellness & Outpatient Therapy Center, Home Health & Hospice services, and a range of outpatient hospital services. Through community input, we are gaining insight into the expectations of services that KVH should provide and what services are most needed in our community. We are responding to the needs and expectations of the community as we develop our Master Facility Plan to build a campus that will meet the needs of our community for the next 20 years.
