LABORATORY SERVICES

The Klickitat Valley Health Laboratory is licensed by the Washington Department of Health to perform moderate and high complexity testing in the subspecialties of Serology, Immunohematology, Hematology and Chemistry. The lab also participates in the American Association of Bioanalysts proficiency testing program. Tests not performed at KVH laboratory are only referred to CLIA licensed referral laboratories.

The laboratory is under the supervision of a Pathologist who acts as the department medical director and oversees all of the policies, procedures and practices of the department. Day to day operations are supervised by the laboratory manager. The laboratory is staffed seven days per week, 24 hours per day by certified medial technologists/technicians in order to provide testing services to emergency department and hospital inpatients.

KVH laboratory also provides clinical laboratory services to outpatients that have tests ordered by a licensed care practitioner.

OUTPATIENT TESTING HOURS:
Monday thru Friday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am – 12:00 noon

Please Note: Outpatient testing performed outside of these times will only be done after approval of a laboratory technologist and will be provided as the workload allows; Emergency Department and inpatient testing must be prioritized.

Some tests require special patient preparation. Please check with your physician or the laboratory for any special instructions that may need to be followed prior to your test procedure. The most frequent preparation required for laboratory testing is patient fasting. Patients with tests that require fasting should not eat or drink anything other than water for 12 to 14 hours prior to collection. Common tests that require fasting include:

 • Fasting Glucose  
• 3 hour Glucose Tolerance Test
